What can I expect after surgery to remove ovarian cysts?
kamakazee asked:
I am just over 12 weeks pregnant and I have to have surgery sometime in the next 4 weeks to have ovarian cysts removed. The largest cyst is just over 15cm, 10 cm, 8cm, and many smaller ones all of which are growing. What can I expect after surgery? How long does it take to heal? How soon before I can return to school afterwards? I’m assuming the pain that I am in now will be gone once the cysts are removed

Complex Ovarian Cysts- are there alternatives to surgical removal?
foxhunter asked:
I’ve been doing some reading on ovarian cysts, and the answer that keeps coming up for complex cysts is surgical removal, most often by laparoscopy. This is done due to concerns about ovarian cancer. But aren’t there other options available? And how do they know that a cyst should be removed, particularly if it is multi-compartmental?

Ovarian dermoid cysts?
Layla asked:
I read up on what dermoid cysts are…but I still have a question about ovarian ones. I know it may be a ridiculously stupid question, but – lol I feel really dumb even asking this – can virgins have dermoid cysts on their ovaries? It’s not a cyst that develops from a failed pregnancy, right? Please don’t make fun of me
I’m just concerned that I might have one (very painful left ovary and sometimes painful right one – I have a Dr. appt on Wed to see where the pain is coming from) and I want to know if even virgins can get them too. Obviously I’m not a virgin, but my family doesn’t know that I am sexually active and would hate to tell them this way, lol…please ease my mind…AND serious answers, PLEASE. If you don’t know the answer or feel the need to laugh at me…just go onto the next question. (And no, I’m not a dumb teenager, just a very misinformed 21 year old).
