Yes, it could possibly mess with the period itself. I know (because of a friend who has been thru this) that sometimes a cyst can mess with the menstrual cycle.
I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.
I currently have a cyst there also and 3 months ago another on the other side ruptured. I have irregular menses and extreme pain. I have an appt. w/ a surgeon due to the severity of the pain. But typically cysts are only an issue if they cause pain..per my FNP…but check with ur own primary to be sure GL
