do fertility drugs help cause Dermoid cyst/tumors?

my husband and i have been trying to get pregnant for about 3 to 4 years now, with no luck. i have been seeing a fertility specialist since 2007. after taking fertility pills the first two years with no luck, we decide to try the shots this time. i did the shots for two cycles, and in the middle of the second cycle the doctor found the dermoid cyst/tumor. i do have polly cystic ovarian disease, which has cause alot of my infertility issues. i have recently have the tumor removed and the dr did ovarian drilling and allow cleaned my tubes again, second time in two years. i am just wondering do the drugs help this tumor to happen or what? i asked the docter and he was not very clear on his answer of, “To the medical world this is unkown really what causes these.”

There are some types of fertility drugs that seem to increase the risk of developing ovarian cysts. Mostly though these are drugs used in IVF protocols specifically. GnRH agonist drugs like Lupron are generally contributing factors. PCOS could also explain the cysts though too so it may be difficult for your doctor to determine which is the ultimate cause if you are on these types of fertility drugs.
