Dermoid cyst in/on the ovary and still got pregnant?

dermoid cyst
TTC#1 asked:

I have been diagnosed with a dermoid cyst and my gyn suggested me to go for a surgery to remove it as it is big (7 cm). i have regular periods and ovulate regularly. This is my 3rd cycle on clomid and i will try for 1 more cycle before going for surgery. Doc says it is 50% chance that i don’t conceive because of the dermoid.
My question is does any body had dermoid cyst and still got pregnant? or got pregnant after removing it?
Whatt would be my chances of getting pregnant after removing dermoid? We have been ttc since 2 yrs.
Dermoid cyst is made of hair, fluid, teeth, or skin glands . They usually occur on the face, inside the skull, on the lower back, and in the ovaries.
And this is not a common cyst
thanks Leanne for the response. All other tests are normal for me. and my husband has good sperm count too…

since my doctor said it only 50% chance that dermoid is causing trouble to me getting pregnant.so i am in a question that if i get it removed by surgery, will there be any better chance for me to conceive?

How long will it take to cure them naturally?

Removing a dermoid cyst should not reduce your chances of conception, as the ovary should still work as normal after removal. In some cases it is necessary to remove part of the ovary when removing the cyst (depending on exactly where the cyst is located) but even if this is the case the remaining ovarian tissue should still operate as normal.

For me, surgery is a big step to take, and should only be a last resort. Without treating the underlying cause of the cyst, it is possible that it will come back. Have you considered the natural approach? The holistic treatment approach for ovarian cysts is totally natural, and addresses issues such as diet, your metabolism, and your hormones. If you can get these right, you will get rid of your cyst naturally and forever, without the need for drugs or surgery.

There’s a good site at with articles and more information. Good luck, whatever path you choose.
